Seems that summer snuck in earlier this week when I wasn’t watching… so here is an update for you from your SLCA.
As you no doubt already know, COVID infection numbers are down across the country with the exception of a few localized hotspots like Waterloo and the Porcupine Region of Northern Ontario. Things are looking very promising for the summer thanks to a high uptake of vaccinations. Despite all these positive indicators, we must not lose sight of the fact that there is still a very deadly virus out in our communities, and that the latest highly-infectious delta variant is rapidly becoming the dominant strain. Use caution when interacting with others, and follow all public health guidelines. Most importantly, get vaccinated!
As indicated on this website, in our spring newsletter and on the Steenburg Lake Facebook group, canvassers will NOT be going door to door again this summer, collecting SLCA membership dues, but your dues can be paid online via Paypal of Interact eTransfer (see https://forms.steenburglake.com/Membership.html ) or by cheque. Your dues help to make events and other programs possible. If you meet new neighbours, be sure to tell them of all the benefits of being a member of the SLCA and have them contact membership@steenburglake.com
As mentioned in our spring newsletter, we have been working with interested parties around the lake to bring you some fun and COVID-safe events this summer. The first of which is the Canada Day boat parade happening at 4 pm on July 1. Contact Selena Bruni or Christiane Langman to register your boat.
We are also pleased to announce, the return of the British Invasion band for an open-air concert at the Patricks’ cottage just west of the public beach on Saturday, August 14th at 3:00 pm. Anchor your boat off from their dock and be prepared to be enchanted by this very talented group of musicians playing all the old hits from across the pond from bands like the Beatles, the Who, the Kinks, Herman’s Hermits, the Dave Clarke 5 and many more.
