Please be advised that both our host townships have issued complete fire bans which are currently in effect. This means absolutely no outdoor burning, at any time of day.
No campfires, no fireworks, no candles… Propane BBQs are alright, but as always, be very attentive as an unattended BBQ could easily catch fire and spread quickly under the current conditions.
Extra caution must be exercised if smoking – never discard a cigarette butt on the ground or out a car window.
Wildfires spread quickly, cause millions of dollars of damage each year and are often accompanied by loss of life. The current draught conditions are severe and widespread.
Be fire smart and don’t let fire get a start!
The Steenburg Lake Community Association takes our fire status advice from the Limerick Fire Department as it is displayed on the township website.
Conditions can change often throughout the summer months, so please ensure you have the most up to date information available before you strike a match.
